Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 21

This will be my last entry on my Taiwan Exchange.

一到台湾就到了廖芷筠的家。很开心受到她和她家人的盛情款待！真的十分感激~！！

后来，新加坡帮的朋友们来到了台湾。我们便一起到处旅游！还记得他们刚开始的时候，还会每天记录自己花了多少钱！非常有远见之名的我一早便和他们说了！这个习惯不会长久！！

果然！！！哈哈哈！！

后来，到了清华大学，认识了许多来自各个国家的朋友。他们有台湾的李东原，日本的福原菜生，韩国的金汉基和金秀英，香港的许锐杰，刘趣仪和马瑞彤。

大家要保持联系哦！！

后来，我便开始了和汉基和阿杰一起去旅游！让我最印象深刻的就是我们的环岛之旅！那是一个失败的旅游！哈哈！

我们一起做了许多很疯狂的事！！我永远也不会忘记我们如何在清华校园里欺骗无辜的女大生，如何在农场里硬闯果园，如何大声地说着背板，如何一起吃着很油的鸭肉面，如何一起疯癫地唱歌。。。哈哈哈！！

要保持联络！

当让也没有忘记每次都会和我们一起旅游的Michael!

发现他其实是个很有知识的人！！哈哈哈。

当然，到台湾不仅仅为了玩。我也去上了课。上了一些课之后，我认识了朋友了！

黄郁淳：哈哈哈！！来新加坡的时候，请你吃好吃的！只有你有哦！你朋友没有！哈哈！！

杨哲熙：很开心可以在句法学里认识你！其实，我很多时候都不想去上课！哈哈哈。但是，幸好课堂上还有你能与我八卦闲聊，我才不至于被闷死！！

我，汉基和阿杰在宿舍里开始了我们的运动会！刚开始时，我认为同一楼层的人都应该认为我们是疯子吧！哈哈。

但是在我们热情的号召下，运动组在接近结束的时候，成员以越来越多！

成为我们的贵宾的便是这三位了！哈哈！

认识这三位18岁的年轻小伙子，才惊觉原来自己已是个老人！哈哈！

陈冠廷：不要再对自己没自信了！！哈哈。其实我觉得你一直再骗我！麦呷我骗哦！你很有自信吧！你这家伙！要继续努力做运动！

翁义钦：很开心认识你这个朋友！！真希望可以一起多打几次桌球！你和你女朋友结婚时，要和我说哦！

郭书辅：你这人，最好每天努力做运动！哈哈！希望你如愿以偿，早点交到女朋友！

最后，我爱台湾！！

Anyway, my bag broke when I was on my way to the airport. Darn!!!

This was the way that I tried to salvage it! Failed to pass the checks. Got to buy a box to hold the entire bag which cost me around $8!!!

Anyway, it never rains but pours!!!

I just got even more unlucky when I reach the airport. Everything was practically in chaos because one of my friend came to the airport late and her lugguage was overweight by 9kg!!

To make matters worst, I lost Alex's passport!

OMG!!!

I was so afraid that I had really misplaced his passport!! He probably couldn return to Singapore if we hadn found it in time!! I felt really sorry and I could sense that Alex was fuming mad!

He is one who doesn get angry easily. So, I was rather afraid!! HAHAH.

Fortunately, everything was over and we all managed to return to Singapore safely!!

I am sorry, Alex! =(

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 20

I am left with just a day in Taiwan.

Went travelling with Alex for the last few days. We visit a 眷村 in Taoyuan with Alex and his friend. Apparently, the 眷村 was the scene for the shoot of 光阴的故事.

光阴的故事 scored rave reviews for itself when it started showing on TV. It brought back many memories of a generation and brought fame to the 2 male leads, 黄腾浩 and 杨一展.

Anyway, there was a local who brought us around the already deserted 眷村. He explained the history of the 眷村 to us and talked about his fond memories of his childhood when he lived in the 眷村. It was an enriching experience.

It was a really great place for a photoshoot.

Mr Situ Yilong and Chen Zhuang Wei, I believe you guys will be really inspired by the place!!!

Anyway, I tried to act like a pro photographer for that day! HAHAH. I shall let the photos do the talking instead. Some of the photos were contributed by Alex.

Finally, had my last plate of 卤味 before I leave Taiwan!!! I will miss Taiwan food alot!!!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year!!!!!

Went to see the fireworks at Taipei 101!!! The fireworks were really awesome!!! Everyone went crazy after the countdown and people were shouting 新年快乐 to one another!!

Seriously, this photo does not do the fireworks justice!!!!!

On a side note, the crowd control was really really good and the MRT in Taiwan worked for 48hours continuously to serves it's people after the countdown!!!

SMRT will probably end their services at 1.30AM after the countdown in order to provide businesses for their taxi drivers!!

Anyway, friends came to Taiwan to visit and countdown to the new year!! I brought them around and I hope they had a great time!!! I really hope that we can still remain really good friends till we are old!!

I am starting to miss home alittle despite having less than 15 days before I return to Singapore. HAHA. I guess that's because I have already had my fair share of fun!!! I cant wait to lie on my comfortable bed!!!! And I am so broke now! I wish to return home to start earning back my money!! Haha!

Even though the fireworks at Taipei 101 were really beautiful, I thought the one at Marina Bay doesn pale in comparison too!!!

Anyway, may we all achieve our new year resolutions in 2012!!

I need to go to bed now!!!

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 19

Merry Christmas!!!

It has been a long time since I last blogged because I had a failed haircut and I dont wish to publish photos of my really bad hair! Hahha. My hair is still bad despite my best effort to salvage it! I massaged my scalp really hard and used the Yohmo Tonic to accelerate my hair growth diligently everyday but it's still rather bad! Hahaha.

However, TsingHua organised a Christmas party for all foreign students. It wasn really that fun but I really appreciated the efforts of the organisers! Hahaha. Tsinghua always separated the celebrations for 侨生 and 外籍生 even though I dont really understand what's the difference between them. Apparently, 侨生 refers to students from Hongkong and Maccu while 外籍生 refers to students from outside China. Hahaha. I heard that the party for 侨生 were much fun because the people dressed up and they had mass dance! Actually, they can just combined the celebrations for all the students. Hiaz...Political Reasons!!!

After the event, we went to the canteen for our very own exchange! We had earlier drawn lots to decide who we are giving the presents to.

Everyone seems really happy with their gifts.

But I had none!!! That is because I am supposed to receive my present from Jackie but she had to head to Taipei yesterday!! Thus, I became the only one who had no gift!!!

It's okay. I dont really mind! Hahha. Seriously, I think it's important that everyone had fun!!

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 18

Mom is here in Taiwan!!!

Finally got to see my mom after 4 months. Travelled with my family for the past 4 days. Went to many places and acted as their tour guide for 1 or 2 days. I hope they enjoy Taiwan as much as I have.

This semester is coming to an end. I am left with less than 40 days in Taiwan. I will be back in Singapore on the 15th of Jan. This is sad. I probably cant get used to studying really hard again! Hahaha.

Anyway, I had a really bad haircut. I believe you can see from my photo. I am now really frustrated with my hair because it's just too ugly!!! Hahaha. Dont you agree that hair cuts are like time bombs that may explode anytime!!! OMG!!!

No matter how hard I try to style my hair, it still looks bad.

I am upset.

That hairdresser did a really bad job!!!! Darn!!!!

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 17.1

Went to 花莲 from 宜兰. Ah Kit suddenly found out that he actually has an aunt in Taiwan. His aunt and her family were so nice to us. They send us around the place and brought us to Taroko Park. They paid for our meals and we were really really thankful to their kind hospitality. We even stayed in their home.

I saved alot of money during this trip. In return, we bought some stuff for his aunt and her family.

I shall let the photos do the talking. Hahha.

If you are wondering who that little young boy is, he is actually Ah Kit aunt's foster son.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 17

Went 宜兰 during the weekends. It's finally autumn and we are all clad in our thick coats. Haha. The weather is really cold these few days.

After 2 hours of travelling, we finally reached 宜兰.

After walking for a while, we reached this waterfall.

I had to do crazy stuff because I lost the game of scissors paper stone!! HAHAH.

After that crazy stunt, we continued to walk to the waterfall. Needless to say, we took more photos there. I shall not post them all up! Hahaha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 16

OMG~!

It has been a long time since I last update my blog.

This happens when everything becomes a routine. I am now too tired to take photos. Haha.

I am starting to miss home! My family is visiting soon. Woo~~!! They are bringing me lots of stuff.

Anyway, my group of friends and I went to 雾社 2 weeks ago.

If you are wondering what 雾社 is, it used to be the place where the aboriginal people of Taiwan lived.

The scenery in the photos may look really beautiful but it's actually rather boring. I think we can find better scenery in Bukit Timah Nature Reserve. Hahaha. However, I was down with a bad flu that day and that's perhaps why I didn had the mood to admire the scenery around me. I kept sneezing!

Anyway, I am spending hell lots of money and I dont know where I am spending them on! Haha. The weather in HsinChu is crazy. Okay. This is probably the 5th time I am saying this. Haha. Even though it may be autumn now, I can still clad in my summer wear on some days. However, it can be really cooling at times too. Haha.

I bought my coat on Friday. Haha. It is really a waste of money because I definitely cant use it in Singapore. However, this will just be the one and only piece of winter wear that I am going to buy. Hahaha. I think I can survive through winter!

Decided to continue this entry. Went to taipei with Hanki and Ah Kit.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 15.1

This is a really really long entry about my trip to 垦丁~!

Took the train to Kaoshiung last saturday because 垦丁 is at the southern tip of the island. We rented a car to got us to 垦丁 at Kaoshiung. Spend quite abit on travelling but I guess it's worthwhile~!

Notice the clock at the back. It reads 12 midnight. Hahah. I got to take the night train! Didn sleep a wink!!

I travelled witht the girls because the others had their own plans and we all arranged to meet in Kaoshiung.

Finally, we reached 垦丁 after much travelling. We rented a car and it brought us to the different places of interest in 垦丁~! I am too lazy to arrange all the photos. Thus, they are in randon order. The scenary was really gorgeous.

Ah Kit and I rented the beach bike but the others did not wish to. Hahah. Anyway, we allowed them to ride the bikes after we got sick of it for a while even though we paid for it. We are nice people. =)

Anyway, the first day was boring but we tried to made it fun by playing stupid games.

Woke up really early the next day because we had to leave 垦丁 at around 2 in the afternoon. It was really fun on the 2nd day because we got to play some water sports.

All dressed up!! I think we look like Ninja turtles in those protective gears~! HA.

After we are done with the water sports, we played on the beaches for a while. We got too bored and we decided to bury ourselves in the sand.

Got back to hostel at around 1pm.

Waited outside because we were really dirty and we do not wish to dirty the rooms. HAHA. Tapped on the wifi while the girls took their time to bath.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 14

I took a Traditional Chinese Medicine module in Taiwan and we had a do a project.

It's a really lame project but I am able to get the credits really easily!!! HAHAH. Those who are taking the TCM module in Singapore, God Bless You~~!!

First, we need to find 15 acupuncture points on our body and indicate them with a red sticker. Those acupuncture points are beneficial to our body when massage! HAHA.

Okay, I contributed my head.

Fortunately, I am not balding~!! HAHA.

After that, we need to make our 药材面膜 ourselves. HAHHA.

Okay, this is what we got after adding hot water to the pack of 药材粉 which we were told was good for our skin. Apparently, we got the pack which was beneficial to acne skin.

BUT I AM NOT THE MODEL~~!!

Even though it may look really disgusting but we had to trust our teacher.

She seems to be a really skilled TCM physician.

OKAY~~!

Poor Ah Kit had to be the model.

Somehow, we dont seem to get easy modules in Singapore. That's sad~! I am glad that I can clear my TCM module in Taiwan! HAHAH.

The weather is really really cold today and I almost freeze to death when I am outdoors~!

Thought I wouldn need winter wear in Taiwan!

I think I am now left with no choice but to get myself a windbreaker or a coat!

Okay. After our project, Ah Kit and I decided to sing!

It was Hallowen and my friends and I decided to be all clad in blue for the special occasion even though we didn had any celebrations~~! HAHAH.

I am studying much harder these days because my mid terms are coming~!!

The library is filled and my notes are driving me crazy~!

In the midst of the discussion for my marketing project with my Taiwanese friends. Hopefully, we will do well for our presentation~!

Sometimes, I get really bored in the night.

Being bored, I sometimes sing with Ah Kit in his room while he plays the guitar. HAHHA.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 12

Ah Kit's family came to Taiwan and Hanki and I accompanied his family around for 1 day.

We went to 九份 and tried their famous 芋圆. This is the second time I am visiting 九份. Didn took many photos because it's nothing new to me!

Went to 十分 and this is where the fun begins!!

Tried the really delicious 山猪肉串。

And 放天灯 for the first time~!!!

I think this is really fun. HAHAH. Even though it may seem really boring to some. We wrote our wishes on the 天灯 and took photos with it!

We wrote silly stuff on the last side of the 天灯. Notice the girl on the left, she is Ah Kit's twin sister!

WOO~~!! Exciting~!!

I think it was a really fun experience! Melvin/Meiqing, it is a must to visit 十分 and 放天灯 when you guys come to Taiwan in Dec. I will join you if I dont have classes on that particular day!

Ah Kit's parents mentioned that HanKi and I are just like part of their family because Ah Kit and his sister have 2 elder brothers and they are around the same age as us!! HAHAH!!

After sending their parents back to their hotel, the young ones decided to roam around 西门町.

It was Halloween that particular day and Ah Kit's sister, Wendy wanted to take photos with the people who had dressed up for the festival.

Ah Kit's family came to our school yesterday before they leave for Hongkong. They visited our hostel and we brought them around school.

I could see that his parents were really bored!! HAHAHA.

Anyway, Ah Kit's parents were really nice and they treated HanKi and me to dinner at 鼎泰风. That dinner cost them 2300NT. THAT IS CRAZY. It cost his parents around $100~!!

HanKi and I felt really bad because the dinner was really expensive~!!!

Anyway, I promised I will treat them to meals when they visit Singapore in future. HAHAH.

Oh yeah, I had my first earthquake experience of my life yesterday. I felt my chair shook yesterday at around 11.55PM. I thought YiXiong had knocked against my chair accidentally. I turned around and ask him about it. However, he told me that he thought that I had knocked against his chair too.

Our room mate then told us that we had just experienced an earthquake.

Well, it wasn that strong and everyone wasn panicking~! Yixiong said that he wants to experience a really strong earthquake because he wants too see all his books falling from the shelves! HAHHA.

I think he is crazy.

However, he mentioned that the earthquake cannot be that strong till our whole hostel collapse! Haha.

Okay, he is still in his right mind.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 11

I took hell lots of photos in Taiwan and there are some which I didn post on my blog.

Thus, this will be an entry that will make up of the several of these miscellaneous photos! Haha.

Okay, I got to admit! A few of the photos are from YiXiong!

Had our crazy share of fun during the Mid Autumn Festival in Taiwan when we seem to be like the only people living in TsingHua because the semester still has not begun! Bought mooncakes from Starbucks and camwhored with them! I know we look silly in the photo. That is the point!

Went singing KTV with the exchange students on a Sunday night. I left the photos of the girls out and I am too lazy to upload it again!! Hahaha.

We filled up the WHOLE public bus when we went visiting my Taiwanese friend's house in TaoYuan.

Kind of miss my previous hairstyle. Thought I look better with it. I think I look weird with bangs! Missing Ms Liao too! She is busy handling her assignments now! She needs to study really hard! A dentist in the making!!!

My exchange friends celebrated my birthday for me!! Thought they didn know about it because I had removed my birthday date from my FB profile! Had previously told one of my friends about it but I didn really expect her to remember. Nevertheless, I was pleasantly surprised. Thanks!

However, he is actually reading his Chemical Engineering book! I dont think anyone pays attention during this class. I guess I am probably the most attentive student!

Went to 南寮 again with some of my friends who didn went there previously. The scenery is still as gorgeous.

Hosted an event in TsingHua today! It's a Chinese speech competition for foreign students. I wanted to join the competition but my application was rejected. HAHAH. The prize money was just too much to resist! The winner will get 3500NT!! It's good money!

Anyway, the organisers called me yesterday and asked if I was willing to be the emcee for the event. I gladly obliged. Thought I did rather fine.

My friend from Korea won the competition!!!

I will perhaps update more about the competition the next time.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 10

It was a boring weekend last week because I had to study for my Japanese test on Sunday.

Thus, my friends and I decided to visit 内湾! It's a town in HsinChu.

Took the train to the place! The train is really colourful!

Finally arrived at 内湾老街! After being in Taiwan for 2 months, my friends and I start to feel that all 老街/夜市 seem to be selling the same stuff except for some local specialities! It reminds me of Singapore where you can find a shopping mall just beside every MRT station! HAHAHA. In taiwan, it's just a shoppoing mall that comes in a different form!! Hahha.

Went to fill our stomachs after we walked for a short while!! I was really hungry. Didn bother to take photos of our food. Instead, I took photos of our dessert!

Our desserts may look really tasty but they are not really that tasty!! Hahah!!!

After having our desserts, we made our way to the famous attraction of 内湾----The 吊桥! HAHAH!

From our attire, I bet you can see that it was really warm that day! The weather in HsinChu is just crazy!!

Spend some time there taking photos but I am too lazy to post them all up!!!

It was Deepavali that day and we celebrated it with our Indian friends!! Had fun playing with the sparkles!!! The Indians sang and dance to their songs really happily!!

I am starting to have assignements and mid terms!! Darn!! They are making my exchange life sad!! Hahhaa. I need to complete so many assignments and I still have my marketing presentation!!

The weather in HsinChu is crazy and I have to check the weather forcast everyday before I decide what to wear for classes!!

Lastly, thanks to Yixiong for lending me the orange top! Wanted to give the colour a try because I dont really have any shirts of that colour. Thought it looked fine on me!!! Ha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 9.2

Took the night train to 台东 to look for our friends on the 2nd night!

We had initiatally rented a big car to bring us around on the 3rd day. However, it just kept pouring throughout the whole day and our plans were disrupted!! I thought it was really a pity that we couldn visit many places in 台东!

Therefore, we stayed in my friend's home and experience the life of a farmer! We accompany his grandmother to the sugarcane plantations!

We worked really hard and we got our hands dirty!

And finally, we tasted the sweet sugarcane juice. It was the first time my korean friend drank sugarcane juice!!!! He thinks that it's nice too! He should pay a visit to Singapore. We have sugarcane juice EVERYWHERE!!!

I talked to my friend's Ah Gong while the others continued to work hard. I love talking to the elderly and listen to their life stories. It was also a good time to polish up my Hokkien too!!

After working hard in the afternoon, my friend's grandparents cooked a spread for us!!!

It had been a long time since we all had home cooked food!!

Woke up at 6am in the morning the next day because we wanted to make use of the time to visit other places in the southern part of Taiwan! It was so nice of Ah Ma to make us breakfast before we left and Ah Gong for sending us to the bus station despite it being really early!!!

Ah Gong and Ah Ma are really really nice people!!!

Took a train and head to Kao Hsiung. We bought a train ticket which cost us only 599NT and we are able to take all the trains for unlimited times over a period of 5 days. However, we do not have any seats and we can only sit on the seats if there are available ones.

That is why we are in such a pitiful state!!

Finally, we reached KaoHisung!!

Ate the famous beef noodles!!!

Decided to visit a carnival that was near a temple because we had nothing else to do!!!

Headed back to HsinChu after our tiring tour.

We practically toured the whole Taiwan island~~!!!! HAHAHAHAH.

Taiwan Exchange Trip part 9.1

On the second day of our tour, we woke up at around 9.30am even though we had earlier planned to wake up at around 8am in the morning! Hahhaa.

Went to fill our stomachs.

I think we must be crazy because we wore our pyjamas out for breakfast!! Hahah. We did not dress up!

Went to 公正包子 for it's 小笼包 again!!! HAHHAA.

OMG!!!!

THE BUNS ARE SO FREAKING DELICIOUS!!!!!

And we had to pose with the store to show how much we love the buns.

Went to have the famous　排骨面　too!!

We wanted to visit the Taroko National Park (太魯閣國家公園 ) at first but we were told that there was a landslide and several parts of the park was closed!!! Darn!!!

Taroko National Park (Chinese: 太魯閣國家公園; pinyin: Tàilǔgé gúojiā gōngyuán; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: Taroko kok-ka kong-hn̂g) is one of the seven national parks in Taiwan and was named after the Taroko Gorge, the landmark gorge of the park. The park spans Taichung City, Nantou County, and Hualien County.

The park was originally established as the Tsugitaka-Taroko National Park (次高タロコ国立公園 Tsugitaka Taroko kokuritsu kōen) by the Governor-General of Taiwan on December 12, 1937 when Taiwan was part of the Empire of Japan. After the Empire of Japan's defeat in World War II, the Republic of China assumed control of Taiwan. The ROC government subsequently abolished the park on August 15, 1945. It was not until November 28, 1986 that the park was reestablished.

It was a pity that we couldn pay a visit to the Taroko National Park!!!!

We decided to head to a farm instead. HAHAHA.

The farm was really boring and I didn bother to take any photos!!!!

There was this orchard which was supposed to be opened to the public but it was closed that day. Refusing to obey with the rules, we decided to barge into the orchard!!! Hahha.

We acted that we didn understood Chinese~~!!! HAHHA.

Hanki went plucking a lime in the orchard after he had lost the game of sissors paper stone!

The game of sissors paper stone was so funny and lame!!! Please take a look at this video!!!! We played the game to decide who will give the lime a try!!!!! HAHAHA.

We didn cause any damage to the orchard and it was purely fun that we decided to barge into the orchard. Please forgive us!!! Hahaha.

Anyway, we were told to leave barely a few minutes after we entered the orchard. HAHHAA.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 9

Went touring around the southern part of the island during the weekends because it was a public holiday on 10/09/2011.

Work up at 5am in the morning and went to the train station because I had to catch a train at 7.10am.

Looking good and all ready to begin our budget tour~!!

After 5 hours, we finally reached 花莲! We meet up with Ah Kit's friend and begin our tour around 花莲!

Took a taxi to our 民宿. I think that our stay in the 民宿 was really worth the money. The staff were friendly and the rooms were clean. Furthermore, it only cost us 500NT per person for a night!!!

After unpacking our stuff, we went on a search for delicious food!!!

Our very first stop!!!

OMG!!

Even though it may look like wanton, but it is actually really nice~~!!!! Please do give it a try if you are in Taiwan!!!

Went to buy muah chee at this store. The muah chee taste really nice!!! Meiqing/Melvin, just get gifts for your friends and families in this store when you are in Taiwan. Their muah chee taste really nice and it is really affordable!!!

We bought 4 packets of muah chee but returned to get more the next day because we thought it was really nice!!

This is Hanki having to carry our muah chee for us after having lost the game of scissors paper stone!!! HAHAH. Throughout the whole tour, we used this particular game to determine who will handle all the chores!!! HAHAH. It was really funny!!

Went to some musem which was really boring.

We basically just camwhored!

If you are in 花莲，you definitely must give these 小笼包 a try!!!

I really feel like having 20 of them now!!!!

After having our lunch, we returned back to our hostel and planned for our next itinerary.

Camwhored while Hanki kept fanning himself because the weather in Korea is never this warm and while my Hongkong friends were struggling to figure the way to the beach!!

We thought we could ride ourselves to the beach but we were terribly wrong!!!

It rained halfway...

Okay, we did arrive at the beach but it took us 1.5 hrs to ride there.

My legs were so fucking tired by the time we reached the beach!!! Darn!! Getting the bikes were a wrong choice right from the start!!!

It was such a coincidence because we manged to see our friends who were also touring around 花莲!

After leaving the beach, we headed to the night markets.

We had to ride to the night markets again because there is no cab that can accomodate 4 bikes! Darn!! We took another 1.5hrs to reach the night markets~!!! My legs were aching so much that i didn even feel like taking any photos in the night market. Anyway, we merely played and eat in the night market. There was nothing special.

Lastly, we rode back to our hostel again!!!

Can you imagine how tired I were when I returned to my hostel!!!!

Please heed my advice and not ride a bicycle when you are in 花莲 because it's a really really bad choice!!!!

I Received An Email From Mr Low

OMG!!!!

Previously, WP send me an email asking if I can write an article for the WP Magazine because I had signed up to be one of their volunteers.

Look at the email~!!

I felt really thrilled and I wrote an article for them. However, it wasn really well written because I was in Taiwan at that moment and I just wanted to have fun. Hahah.

Nevertheless, I still wrote them an article.

I stated in my email that the article is poorly written and I am fine if it will not be published.

I never thought that they will reply me.

However, MR LOW THIA KIANG emailed me yesterday!!!!!

HAHHA! He edited my work!

I felt so honoured!!!! He is one of my idols in the political scene!! HAHAHHA!!!!!

This is amazing.

I really didn expect WP to reply!!!

Spend my birthday in Taiwan. Felt really glad when my exchange friends threw me a party in the middle of the night.

Wanna thank my Singaporean friends who wished me happy birthday on facebook. I am deeply touched. For those who had forgotten, it's okay. I am old and I dont really celebrate my birthdays now. Hahaha.

Lastly, Mom called and wished me happy birthday too. Thank you, mummy!!! Thanks for always taking care of me since the day I was born.

Heading to HuaLian and TaiDong in the next couple of days because it's Taiwan's National Day next monday. Decided to travel to the southern part of the island during the break. Looking forward to the picturesque scenery.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 8

Last wednesday was Teacher's Day and we did not have to attend school.

My Taiwanese friend invited us to his home in Taoyuan.

Took the high speed rail for the second time. These are all the exchange students from Asia, excluding those from China.

Some of them were really excited because this was their first time taking the high speed rail.

Finally, we reach DongYuan's housing estate. It seemed like I had returned to Singapore because the whole area just looked like a housing estate in Boon Lay or Jurong.

After leaving our stuff in his room, he brought us to the facilities room and we played pool and table tennis.

After some time, we decided to head to a restaurant for dinner. It was so nice of his father to send us all to the dining place. It was even nicer of him to pick the tab for us!! HAHHA. Dinner wasn that cheap!!!

The dinner was sumptous and I was really full. Look at the amount of food we had~!!

Last but not least, we took a group photo with his parents!!!

A big thank you to his parents. They even treat us to fruits after we had our dinner!!

The weather in HsinChu is crazy. On some days, it will be really warm but on some days, it will be really cooling.

The winds in HsinChu are really really strong and my hair will be blown messy by the strong winds. My hairline is always exposed~!!! Hahaha!! You really wont know how strong the winds are in HsinChu. Sometimes, I feel that I am suspended around 5cm above the room. YES!! THE WINDS ARE THAT STRONG!!! One day, I will take a video and post it on my blog.

This time it's for real that I need to draw out more money from the ATM. I have been in Taiwan for only slightly more than a month and I spend almost 46000NT~!!!!!! OMG!!! I am only left with 3000NT now~!!!

I really think that I will spend more than $6000 for my exchange!!

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 7

Went 五分埔 with my friends again.

I can never finish shopping for clothes there. It's really big and you will get good deals if you are prepared to shop for a long time and search hard for the good deals. Hahhaa.

In the mrt stations, everyone stand to the right of the escalators. This makes it easier for people who are rushing for time!

This is one of the reason why I love Taiwan. They are more civic minded than us. In Singapore, there will be one or two who always stand on the right of escalators despite having signs reminding people to stand to the left!!!! I always think that we can do much better if we wish to see ourselves as a 1st world country.

After having our lunch, we went shopping for stuff.

The guys and girls decided to shop separately. I shopped with Ah Kit, my friend from HK. Decided to get someone to take a photo for us after the shopping.

Ah Kit wanted to take a photo with the lady who took the photo for us because he thought she was pretty. HAHHA. However, we did not manage to do so.

Once again, the girls went crazy again!

I will return to 五分埔 again when autumn arrives~!!! HAHHA.

A Tour Around My Campus

This is the bus stand. Everyone will wait for the shuttle bus just along the bus stand.

Yeah. And this is our shuttle bus that brings us around the campus. It's small but it comes at an interval of every 5 mins.

Taiwanese are generally very polite. There is this particular bus driver who always remind students to keep clear of the door whenever the bus come to a halt. Almost all students will thank the bus driver before they alight!!!

My school is built on a hill. Thus, I always have to climb a flight of stairs before I can reach my hostel.

Just look at this flight of stars!!!! THIS IS JUST A PART OF IT! I can pass my IPPT immediately when I return to Singapore. My legs always get really tired by the time I reaced my room. To make things worst, my room is on the 4th level of the hostel and there are no lifts!

This is the place where everyone dry their clothes. It's a little unsafe because people may steal your clothes. However, I think that Taiwanese are generally kind people and my clothes have not been stolen before.

My school is linked to the Chiao Tung University Of Taiwan. Chiao Tung is also one of the best universities in Taiwan. We are allowed to take classes in ChiaoTung and I took a science module there. This is the road that links between both schools.

Oh yeah, the dogs in TsingHua are not afraid of people at all. They will even escort the girls back to their hostel in the night!! Haha.

That is why there is a bin in every room for you to dispose the toilet paper that you had used. HAHA.

Somehow, there isn any foul smell in the toilets!! Hahha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 6

Went to the beach with my exchange friends.

We had lots of fun and the scenery was beautiful. Rode in the 4-man bicycle for the first time. It was really tiring. Do we have this bicycle in Singapore?!?! It's so cool. Everyone can actually pedal together!

Mq and Melvin, lets give this a try when you guys visit me in HsinChu. However, it will be really cold!!! Bring along your sweaters and scarfs!!!

The scenery was gorgeous and we had lots of fun posing for photos.

School has started and I am beginning to hate the stress! Hahah. I wish I didn have any classes to attend. All the exchange students agreed that we all dont feel like studying. We just feel like having fun.

I hate matching courses to that of NTU the most!

The professors always reply saying that the url for the course information is invalid. YES. It is but I cant do anything about it~!!! The session just timed out!!!

ARGH!!! Hate it! And I have a Japanese test next week!!! I am sleeping late everyday because the exchange students seem to have activities everyday! I understand why most people who lived in hostels cant achieve good grades now! I worry for my skin~!! Hahha.

My money is depleting at an amazing rate and I am about to draw out more money now! This is despite having already brought along $2000 worth of NT to Taiwan! OMG. I will need to teach 2 kids when I am back in Singapore.

The weather in HsinChu just suddenly turned cooler these 2 days. Everyone is starting to wear their jackets. I wonder if autumn is here!! Hahaha. It gets really cold at night because the winds in HsinChu are so strong!

难得的相见

I felt really thrilled when I knew that Naoto will be coming to Taiwan. It has been ages since we last met.

I went up to Taipei to met him and his friend.

Naoto is still as funny. He thinks that I am really humourous and I can be a comedian! Hahha. We chatted alot and I was reminded about the fond memories of the Chinese Bridge Competition. I am glad that I had joined the competition and had made so many friends.

Anyway, I brought his friend and him around. We went to 五分埔, Taipei 101 and had the really delicious 小笼包 for dinner. The Japanese seem to love the 小笼包 alot! Hahha.

Felt a little sad when we parted because I wonder when will be the next time we will meet again! Hopefully, I will be able to visit Osaka next year and it will be his turn to bring me around!! Hahaha.

Finaly, the school did something for the exchange students. I had the chance to meet the other exchange students yesterday and we hang out till 3am in the morning today! We had lots of fun!! I know the exchange students from HongKong, Korea and Japan. Once again, the asians seem to click better. I dont have anything against the Caucasians. They are nice people too. It's just that Asians have the same pop culture and it's easier to communicate. The Caucasians kept asking me to club and drink with them! Haha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 5.1

Taipei is fun~!

On the day we arrived in Taipei, we went to 五分埔 and 饶河夜市! After that, we meet up with our friends who went to 台大 for exchange and sang overnight ktv. Took hell lots of photos and we had a great time. We are planning to visit 垦丁in october together too. I hope that the trip will be successful and we will have lots of fun there.

Woke up really late on the second day because we sang throughout the previous night. Some went to get their haircut while some stayed in the hostel. We visit 士林夜市 and tried many of the local delights.

We went to 九份 on the 3rd day and tried it's most famous 芋圆.

On the last day, we went to 野柳地質公園 and took photo with the famous 女王头. I was told by my friend that the head of the 女王头 is going to drop anytime because the neck is getting thinner each day. Anyway, we took lots of photos there with my friend's camera. My camera died on me! Darn! Ha.

Classes have started and I am still in the midst of deciding which courses to choose. School is tiring. Tsing Hua has a really tedious add/drop system and it's making me a little crazy. Furthermore, I will have to try to match the modules here to that of NTU so that I can clear as many compulsory modules as possible. I am trying to keep my fridays free! Hahaha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 5

Hello~!!

I know I have not been blogging. Ha. That's because I went to Taipei for a 4D3N stay. Wooo~!! Taipei is so much more fun! How I wished I had stayed in Taipei instead.

Went shopping and touring around the various places of interests!!

Took a bus in the afternoon and reached Taipei bus station.

My top is bought from 一中街 and it only cost me $15~~!! The shirt has a very good quality!! For that quality, I think I can only get that shirt at around $45 in Singapore. I think it is sold at a low price because stores are gradually clearing their summer clothes. All fashion stores are selling their autumn clothes now! This is crazy because temperatures are still around 30 degree Celsius in the day~!!

We stay in a backpackers hostel because it was cheap and we just needed a roof over our heads.

Toilets are rather clean and the staff were really friendly!

Okay, you can take a look at our room. We had to share our room with 2 other guys. It's alittle inconvenient but it only cost us around $20 a night. We need to save to shop.

Ha. Our room got really messy on the 2nd day!!

We visited many places in Taipei and I need time to sort the photos out. Hahaha.

Before heading to the streets, we had to camwhore! Hahha.

I can wear it to school when I dont feel like dressing up.

Everyone bought so many stuff but I only bought 3 new pieces of clothes~! The girls got themselves so many stuff till they need so many extra bags! Hahaha.

My room mates have moved in and they are from .......... CHINA!

HAHAH. I would have hoped that my room mates are from Korea, Japan, HongKong or Taiwan but nevertheless, I am glad that they are quite nice people. Erm, at least for now. Haha.

Attended the orientation of Tsinghua and was really disappointed.

The school dont really care for the exchange students. There were no ice breaking games and we didn have a change to get to know the other exchange students.

We are coping well despite not having enough care from the school. However, the other exchange students from France, America and Sweden really struggled. They hardly know a word of Chinese and they were not brought around the school or to the town. In the end, we had to bring the Ang Mohs to town instead. Isn that weird! We are not the locals.

I am not expecting them to bring us around throughout the whole week but they should at least have a 1 day tour around the city. At the very least, they should have some ice breaking games! Hahaha.

It's mid Autumn festival today but the school did not even plan any activities for us! Isn this a good chance to introduce the chinese culture to the foreign students?!?!

Fortunately, the staff are nice when you need help but I just feel that the school could have done more for the exchange students.

Friends and families have already booked their tickets to taiwan. Looking forward to seeing them in Taiwan.

I think Taiwan is fun and everyone stand to the right of escalators. I hope that I can work in Taiwan in future. Hahaha.

Taiwan Exchange Trip Part 4

Finally, I meet up with my Singaporean friends at the airport and we headed to Tsing Hua University together.

I think my hostel is fine even though it's quite dusty. Hahha. I had expected something worst. Thus, I think this is fine.

After leaving our stuff in the hostel, we left for the supermarket to get our daily necessities.

Before we shopped, we had our lunch. I had beef noodles. I think the noddles are really nice!

Shop for a long long time and this is what the guys got. The girls got themselves much much more stuff!

After returning back to the hostel, we went out for dinner and more shopping. The girls wanted more stuff for their room.

I was bored and I asked YiXiong to take a photo for me while the girls were shopping. Hahha.

After having our dinner, we returned to our rooms. The girls were curious about how our rooms looked like because their rooms were really beautiful and we told them that ours aren that good!! Hahah. Thus, they wanted to have a look at our room. Fortunately, their rooms cost them NT14000 while ours only cost NT7200. Or I will be really annoyed.

Okay, I admit that my bed is not that comfortable because the mattress is really thin. I am actually experiencing back aches now! I am so used to sleeping on my really thick mattress at home~! I shopped alot in Taiwan and I am rather broke now! Haha. My top is from WuFenPu while my pants are from YiZhongJie. My top only cost me $18~!!! Woo~~!!!

Anyway, I went to XiMenTing yesterday and I cut and dyed my hair. HAHAHA.

I think my new hairstyle is still fine but it looks really weird when I dont style it. Okay, I shall take a photo of my new hair style when I have the chance.

Everything is fine and I am coping well.

It's really noisy today because everyone is moving into the hostel. I feel so old because I am actually 4 years older than the freshies!! My room mates are still not here and I hope that they will be nice people!!

Anyway, they are just 18 year old brats~!!
